I wish that I
could tell you when it all started, but either that information has
been kept from me or no one seems to know anymore. My guess would be
a little of both. What I do know is that around the time of
the U.S. Civil War, there was an unusual increase in suicides and
patients that suffered from a unique form of depression. At
first the psychiatrists of the day blamed this phenomena on the
unfortunate circumstances that the country was facing. But
when there was also a sudden increase in suicides among the
psychiatrists themselves, they dug deeper and discovered the
horrible truth. There was a distinct source of their illness
and if they didn't act fast, they feared they would have an epidemic
on their hands. In those times,
there were no specific protocols to handle such a dilemma. The
doctors consulted the government offices who in turn consulted more
doctors. Through much confusion and frustrating debates, they
all soon agreed that the quickest way to stop the spread of this
mental disease was to cut it off from the public and erase all
existing evidence. Yes, a conspiracy, but with only
the best intentions at heart. |
